With a height of 35 Feet (10.7 Metres) and the belly of the apple has a diameter 38 Feet (11.6 Metres) and this big fruit weights 42 tonnes but don’t try to eat it as it is not a real apple. The apple was built with structural steel by Vout Welding of Cobourg.
You can walk up 35 feet inside “Mr. Applehead ” to the top observation deck where you can get a view of Cramahe Township, the Village of Colborne
The whole theme of the place has gotten bigger over the years which in a way has made it lose its charm to me but it still attracts thousands of visitors every year. I always make sure I stop in to see this wonderful roadside attraction that if you’ve never been there it for sure is a must see on any road trip.
The bakery beside “The Big Apple” bakes all kinds of pies but my favourite is still the Dutch apple pie.
